A three-axle cross-country lorry with a payload of 3 tons was demanded by the Reichswehr in 1926. In competition with Büssing and Krupp, Henschel developed the Type 33. By 1929 the D1 model entered service with the D2 following in 1933 with a lengthened wheelbase and a payload of 4 to 5 tons.

The Mannschaftskraftwagen (Kfz.70 –  personnel carrier) offered seats for the driver and up to nine crewmen.  It could carry different infantry groups and their weapons like a rifle squad, a heavy machine gun squad or a mortar squad and were. This was one of the best vehicles in class available in 1936

Originating in 1934, the Wehrmacht submitted a requirement for an 8t artillery tractor. A number of designs were submitted by Krauss-Maffei with the ‘mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8t, Sonderkraftfahrzeug 7’ being successful. The first production vehicles appeared in 1938 and soon found their way to Spain.

In 1938 three different versions of the Sd.Kfz. 7 made their way to Spain. The M8, M9 and M11 models, all of which served with distinction with the Condor Legion’s anti-aircraft battery 2.F/88. Not only were they used to haul the guns but they found employment pulling the listening devices and the Rangefinders.

The Panzer I was a light tank produced by Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Short for Panzerkampfwagen I (German for “armored fighting vehicle mark I”), abbreviated as PzKpfw I, its official German ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 101 (“special purpose vehicle 101”).

The Panzer I ‘Breda’ was a rare conversion using an Italian 20mm Breda autocannon as a way of countering Soviet gun armed tanks and armoured cars. Only 4 were converted before the politicians got in the way and the capture of so many Republican vehicles made the argument moot.

The Panzer I Ausf.B can be seen as a direct improvement of the Ausf.A, featuring a water-cooled engine, upgraded suspension, and a modified rear. The main reason for the upgrade being the Ausf.A’s weak engine and concomitant unreliability. The winner was the Maybach 100 hp NL 38 Tr. solving the problems.

Only one photo is known to exist of the Panzer I Ausf.B ‘Lanzallamas’. This had a Flammenwerfer 35, modified with a short and fat armored cover with some ventilation slots to avoid overheating. Mounted in the right MG port, it could apparently not close due to the barrel being too thick.
